The Tallinn University of Technology Chamber Choir is stepping up in 2022 on the 2nd advent at worship services with a musical performance to give a special feel to the church family for Christmas. The worship services will be taking place on December 4th in Kõpu Peetri church at 11:00 and in Suure-Jaani church at 14:00.

The performance will contain traditional Christmas music and Baltic choral music.

The chamber choir of Tallinn University of Technology competed in Lithuania in mid-May. Three songs were prepared for category A and three more for the Grand Prix. In addition, concerts took place in local churches on two evenings. The competition also broadcast the entire competition on Facebook live (from 18 minutes). The choir received a level II diploma with 84 points.

On February 22, TalTech recognized its employees and researchers. In addition, active students, organizations and athletes. This year, the TalTech Chamber Choir won the cultural act of the year. Specifically, the choir received recognition for its 55th birthday concert, which took place at the Kaja Cultural Center.

This year, the Tallinn University of Technology Chamber Choir will perform at the 4th Advent Concert Service in Viljandi County. More specifically in Kõpu Peter’s Church at 11:00 and in Suure-Jaani Church at 14:00.

The program consists of traditional Christmas songs.

From ancient times, it has been believed that the lights in heaven were souls of the dead and that they had magical effects. Of course, there is a fascinating beauty in northern lights, but from century to century these wonderful light beams were treated with the utmost respect. Northerns taught from generation to generation that if you disrespect the lights it would bring bad fortune. On the other hand, Nordic mythology tells us that the northern lights were reflections or glow from the shields and armour of the female warrior Valkyrie.

One thing is certain – the Sámi (aka Lapps) word for northern lights is „guovssahas“, meaning „the light you can hear“. Tallinn University of Technology Chamber Choir brings you the light, which is heard in a magnificent echo at the Kaja Cultural Centre on 11th of December, starting at 18:00.

Northern lights are created with sound by conductors Rihards Zariņš and Austėja Pėželytė.
Solos are sung by Kristjan Rikas, Emily Joy Krohn and Carolyn Pippar.

Regardless of the difficult times, we want to surround as many people as possible with music, so for the first time in the history of our chamber choir, we present the concert in two ways – in addition to the physical concert, it is possible to celebrate our 55th birthday with us online as well.
